NFMC/AFMC Junior Composer Contest

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you have been encouraging your creative students to enter the Jr. Composers Contest. The benefits of composing are huge, and we never fail to be inspired and challenged by the comments of our excellent judges each year. Remember that in order to enter students in this contest your NFMC/AFMC membership must be up to date.

Note that the state deadline for receipt of entries is January 15, 2017. The total entry fee is $18.00. If you wish to enter students in the gold cup program for composition, you must handle that separately through the gold cup chairman, Carol Bone, after state judging is completed. All checks should be made out to AFMC.

Classifications are grouped by ages (by March 1, 2017):

Jr. Class I – ages 9 and below
Jr. Class II – ages 10 – 12
Jr. Class III – ages 13 – 15
Jr. Class IV – ages 16 – 18

Note that compositions must be notated by hand or computer-generated by the student. Send a PDF file of the composition and audio file of the piece to Linda Kennedy, PianoLK@aol.com.
