The 2013 Young Artist Competition was held on June 25 and 26. The finalists were announced on June 26 and they performed on June 27, 2013. Each winner received a first place prize of $15,000. Pianist, Olga Krayteman has many first place prizes to her credits – among them are the Concours International de Piano du Moulin, the Stravinsky Competition and the Southeastern Piano Festival Competition. Olga is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Eastman School of Music. Cellist, Tavi Ungerleider has performed in numerous concert halls in the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. He recently collaborated with Michael Tilson Thomas for a PBS, HBO series entitled “Masterclass.” Among his prizes he is the recipient of the 2013 Koussevitzky Young Artist Award 2012 International Crescendo Music Award and Harvard Musical Association Award. Presently he is a Masters student at Juilliard.

Male Vocalist, Mark Gardner is preparing for the role of Le Chevalier des Grieux in Massenet’s Le Portrait de Manon for Opera Muskoka. He has just completed a successful performance as Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Opera Kitchener. In April he again performed; the role of Don Giovanni, Act II Finale, with the Stratford Symphony Orchestra. In May he performed as baritone soloist in the Stratford Concert Choir’s performance of the Fauré Requiem under the direction of Ian Sadler. Female Vocalist, Courtney Miller is a graduate of University of Michigan and the Boston Conservatory. For the 2013-2014 season she will be with the Virginia Opera as an Emerging Artist. Her roles will include Meg Page in Falstaff, Mércèdes in Carmen while covering Carmen, and Dryade in Ariadne auf Naxas while covering the Komponist. She was a New England Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions. Summer of 2011 was spent with Chautauqua Opera and 2012 she was again with Chautauqua Opera as an Apprentice Artist. Courtney Miller is a current Bridges Encouragement Grant Recipient.
